Undiagnosed Hearing Loss a Cause of Isolation

An article published by Hear-it in their on-line newsletter provides information about a study conducted at the University of British Columbia, UBC Okanagan in Canada.  Researchers found that unacknowledged or unaddressed hearing loss is associated with a significantly increased risk of social isolation among people aged 60 to 69 years of age.  The UBC study also found that undiagnosed hearing problems are associated with cognitive declines equivalent to almost four years of chronological aging.  Read the article here: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/32151193/
