Computer Assisted Realtime Translation (CART)

This system is often used for meetings and lectures attended by hard of hearing participants. A specially trained stenographer uses equipment similar to a court-reporter’s device. The stenographer types in everything that is said, and the words are immediately projected onto a large screen so that meeting participants can follow each speaker.  For a more detailed explanation of how CART and captioning work, read the CART transcript of the presentation given by Cheryl Wallace at the chapter’s Annual General Meeting on May 8, 2019: Cheryl Wallace presentation
