Open captioning is a viewing system that allows movie goers to read the text of the movie while they are viewing the action. It is visible to all viewers. This system is not used frequently, as it is too noticeable and can be intrusive to hearing viewers. It is currently not available in Manitoba for general movie viewing, however it is used for foreign films in some theatres when the voice is translated to English for all viewers.
