Sensory-Friendly Shopping at Bishop Grandin Blvd. and St. Anne’s Rd. Sobeys

The Sobeys location at Bishop Grandin Blvd. and St. Anne’s Road has introduced special shopping hours for people with health conditions affected by loud, busy, brightly-lit environments.  The store will dim some of its lighting, reduce or mute noise from barcode scanners, music, announcements, deli machines and shopping cart collection.  Sobeys is the first store in Manitoba to take this step.  It will make shopping for people with Meniere’s disease and others affected by sensory-overload a much better experience.

The Winnipeg Free Press reported in its August 23, 2019 edition that the store will offer special shopping hours on Thursday evenings from 6:00 to 8:00.
