CNN, an American cable news network based in Atlanta, Georgia published an interesting on-line article on July 10, 2012 about the lack of health insurance coverage in the U.S. for the purchase of hearing aids. According to the article, “Hearing aids are considered elective, much like plastic surgery or liposuction. But unlike those cosmetic procedures, life without hearing can have devastating effects. It can leave people feeling isolated or depressed and may even lead to serious illnesses like dementia.
