WINNIPEG, Manitoba: June 5, 2014 – MTS announced today that members of the deaf, deafened, hard of hearing or speech impaired (DHHSI) community can now communicate with 9-1-1 call centres in Manitoba using wireless text messaging through Text with 9-1-1 service (T9-1-1).
The launch of T9-1-1 in Manitoba was achieved through collaboration between the provincial Public Safety Answering Points and the Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association. BellMTS wireless customers who are members of the DHHSI community must register their approved wireless devices for T9-1-1 either at http://www.mts.ca/t911 or through a Bell/MTS dealer.
